Launcher and Slurm#

Note

The "Launcher" feature was introduced in RStudio Workbench 1.2 and is only available under named user licensing. RStudio Workbench 1.2 without Launcher is available under existing server-based licensing. For questions about using Launcher with RStudio Workbench, please contact sales@rstudio.com.

RStudio Workbench 1.2 and newer versions include a Slurm plugin for running R sessions and background jobs on a Slurm cluster.

Architecture and Network Access#

RStudio Workbench can be configured with Launcher and Slurm using the following architecture and network communication paths:

Launcher spawns R sessions and background jobs via Slurm tooling and uses shared home directories for project storage.
